We are excited to announce that Google Pay is available for in-store purchases in the US. Now you can visit some of your favorite stores like Sephora, rue21 and Journeys and opt to pay with Klarna from your phone once you’re ready to check out.

This new in-store option is timely as stores are beginning to open up again, yet still taking precautions to be as clean and germ free as possible. Contactless payments have been on the rise even before the pandemic, but have become even more vital due to concerns about health and safety.

We’re continuing to roll out new options that make your experience smooth and flexible no matter where you’re shopping. When checking out at a participating retailer, the in-store solution is super easy to use:

  • Search for the store in the Klarna app and create a Digital card for your purchase.

  • Add the card to your Google Pay wallet (or Apple Pay for iPhone users) and tap for contactless payment at checkout

  • Once you complete payment, you’ll get a post-purchase notification and details to help you manage your payments.

Whether you prefer shopping in-store or online, our goal is to enable shoppers to move freely between channels and have as many options as possible. We hope that Android users enjoy this new perk of our end-to-end shopping experience.
